Bitters are a great way to enhance the flavour of a beer.
Here are some general guidelines for experimenting with bitters in your beer:
- Dark bitters pair well with dark beers. Aromatic or chocolate bitters pair well with stouts, porters or other malty beers.
- Light bitters pair well with light beers. Orange, lime, grapefruit and lemon bitters pair well with lagers, pilsners, pale ales and wheat beers.
- Use in light beers (i.e.: Bud Light, Heineken, or Bud Zero) as these beers provide more of a blank canvas for the flavours of the specific bitters to really stand out.
